Throughout humanity, change--especially to the new unknown--has not been readily welcomed. In some instances the threat of change, both real and perceived, has caused conflicts and even wars in a society.
Despite the assumed global village that is expected to emerge in the wake of globalization, little attention has been paid to its effect on the populations in the developing world.
It is important to have a good understanding about the existing structures and sensitivity in determining the true needs of the intended beneficiaries. In order for everyone to live peacefully alongside one another, is important for everyone to learn from each other about our differences. Educate one another about our uniqueness, cultural, skills, knowledge and resources which will foster a more harmonious society in this global village.
Ugandan American Global Initiative’s vision is communities that are empowered to adapt to the changes that are a result of globalization.
UAGI is a global non religious, non governmental and non political humanitarian organization that works to promote Peace, Environment, Cultural, and Empowerment Initiatives by transferring applicable practical technology and resources to address the challenges and basic human needs in the developing world through community partnerships.
Ugandan American Global Initiatives [UAGI] was formed as a Non Profit, Non Governmental Organization to promote Peace, Culture, Community and Environment. Its founder and Board of Directors come from diverse backgrounds with a wealth of different dynamic organizational experiences. They founded UAGI to formalize their humanitarian work and projects.
In order to achieve its objectives, UAGI focuses mostly on an empowerment approach as a means to building permanent structures for Community development to guarantee sustainability and project ownership by the Communities.
In some instances, UAGI has worked in partnership with other organizations with similar objectives to carry out the programs needed in order to avoid waste and redundancy in resources.
UAGI will focus initially on the greater East African region starting in Uganda. And as it grows and expands in the rest of the East African countries and neighboring countries in the region, UAGI will take on a consultancy and supervisory role to create permanent development and growth and avoid a dependency from client communities.

UAGI was created as a United States not-for-profit corporation, based in Chicago, Illinois. In addition to its principal founder Price Mutebi, UAGI has a full Board of Directors. As of this writing, the organization is still in the application process for 501(c)(3) designation by the United States Internal Revenue Service.
